I just saw your beam antenna video last week and was looking forward to including it in the Tech classes that I teach here in NYC. Feel free to pop in on our weekly nets on 441.100 Mondays at 8:30PM. I too (like others above) am in the IT industry and look towards shaking things up a bit to advance amateur radio and helping people rise up a notch or two (or three or four...). Long story, but there's no tape on my glasses. I just passed my Tech and General in December and my Extra in January. After being around unix, open source, usenet, and the internet since the early 80's, it feels to me like the ARRL is really in need of some updating. The ARRL has been working on a new web site for over two years. It's long overdue. (Try with the current site to find out what the process is for getting a license and what all of the license classes are. It's easier to find it on other sites.) I hope the new web site is a big improvement, but a project that takes 2+ years and isn't out there getting feedback from the masses has a good chance of going off into the weeds. I realize the ARRL needs money to survive, but their goals of promoting amateur radio, yet charging for almost every piece of information they organize seem a little mutually exclusive in this day and age.
